Dynasty Warriors: Origins - How To Unlock Every True Ending

Dynasty Warriors: Origins brings more to the table than simple hack-and-slash gameplay.

Three powerful factions, one epic story, and it’s up to you to change history.

The main endings keep it historical, but the true endings throw a "what if" twist, where big decisions take you down a different path.

In this guide, we’ll break down exactly how to unlock all endings, giving you the tools to change China’s fate for good.

How To Unlock Every True Ending

Dynasty Warriors: Origins lets you check out six different endings, depending on which faction you play—Wei, Shu, or Wu.

Each faction has a regular ending that follows history, but there are true endings where things play out differently, changing characters' fates and political outcomes.

The true endings come when you make the right calls in major battles with solid timing and strategy.

Shu Faction (Liu Bei's True Ending)

Out of all the factions, Shu's true ending is the most straightforward to unlock, but it still asks you to switch your approach in a key battle.

If you want to see how this alternate history plays out, read Chapter 5's Battle of Changban.

Normally, your goal is to help Liu Bei escape, but to unlock the true ending, you must tweak history.

As soon as Cao Cao's troops arrive, don’t stress about helping Liu Bei escape just yet.

Instead, you need to confront Cao Cao’s army. Deal with Cao Cao's officers in the south, then head north to go up against the general.

Once you take Cao Cao down, the game will trigger the Fate Altered message, meaning you've changed history’s fate.

Help Liu Bei out as usual, and the true ending for Shu will unlock. This ending allows for some leeway in speed and timing.

Instead of charging in headfirst, focus on strategy. This path is more laid-back for players who aren’t decked out in top gear or stats.

Wei Faction (Cao Cao's True Ending)

To reach Wei’s real ending, you’ll face three major battles, each challenging to save specific officers and complete set objectives.

Your best bet is to make quick moves and use a solid strategy. Each mission has tight timing and set conditions.

1. Save Dian Wei in the Battle of Wan Castle (Chapter 4)

The key to success here is protecting Dian Wei, so move quickly and time it right.

Head straight for the northwest and northeast bases and capture them in under four minutes.

Afterward, move to the center and prepare to take on a few enemy officers.

You’ll need to act quickly to take down the generals before Dian Wei’s situation worsens.

Complete the objectives and save Dian Wei, and you’ll trigger the Fate Altered message.

2. Save Guo Jia in the Battle of Mt. Bailang (Chapter 5)

Bailuan can’t be allowed to buy time for the enemy, or Guo Jia’s life is at risk.

Take over the southwest bases and take care of the enemy at the northwest base.

Once you're through these spots, head west to face off against Bailuan.

Take him down in time, and Guo Jia will make it out alive, triggering the Fate Altered message again.

3. Stop Huang Gai’s Fire Attack at the Battle of Chibi

Don’t let Huang Gai torch Cao Cao’s fleet in the last battle if you want Wei’s true ending.

Head over to the southwest altar and take care of Zhuge Liang before he triggers the fire attack.

Once you stop him, go to the back of Cao Cao's fleet and take down Huang Gai before he pulls off his plan.

Complete these three steps, and you’ll see Wei’s true ending, where Cao Cao secures his power and flips China’s history.

Wu Faction (Sun Jian's True Ending)

Wu’s true ending is a little more complicated than Shu’s, but still nothing compared to Wei’s.

The alternate timeline happens when you save Sun Jian and Sun Ce at the right times, and there are some steps you’ll need to follow.

1. Save Sun Jian at the Battle of Xiangyang (Chapter 3)

You must move past Sun Jian during this battle and focus on your mission.

But you must save him if you want to see the true ending. Once the battle starts, go south and deal with the enemies blocking your way.

Somewhere down the road, you'll run into a phantom Zhang Jiao.

Defeat him, and this will trigger the Fate Altered message, which instantly ends the stage and allows you to save Sun Jian’s life.

2. Save Sun Ce during the Suppression of Wu (Chapter 4)

The next critical battle is the Suppression of Wu in Chapter 4.

This mission aims to ensure Sun Ce's survival, so you must stay on course, or you will fail.

Secure the bases to the north and west early to keep morale up and avoid ambushes.

As soon as Sun Ce moves west, keep up with him and look for a concealed path on the far edge of the battlefield.

Use the Eyes of the Secret Bird to track the path to Bailuan. If you defeat Bailuan in time, the Fate Altered message will appear.

Once Sun Jian and Sun Ce are safe, Wu's true ending will be revealed after the rest of the battles.
