When is the Elden Ring Colosseum update release date and time?
The developers at FromSoftware have brought players an early Christmas present this year. The Elden Ring Colosseum update will release completely free of charge on December 7, 2022.
Neither Bandai Namco nor FromSoftware have published an official time for this update, but that doesn’t mean we’re left entirely in the dark. Elden Ring has had consistent maintenance times in the past, which means that these times are the best estimation for when this update will launch.
These past maintenance times are as listed below:
Time Zone | Time |
---|---|
GMT/UTC | 10:00am |
ET | 5:00am |
PT | 2:00am |
JST | 19:00am |
CEST | 11:00am |
It's expected that everyone will receive the update at the same time, no matter what time zone or console you're playing on. Just make sure that your console is on and ready to begin downloading any updates around this time. You're not going to want to miss out on this one.

Elden Ring Colosseum DLC trailer
Despite there being some speculation around unused areas of the Elden Ring map, likely tying to DLC, this Colosseum update was only announced the day before its launch. It came through an epic announcement trailer, which you can check out right here.
What is included in the Elden Ring Colosseum update?
From the information in that trailer which dropped not long ago, and the patch notes, we know that this Elden Ring Colosseum update will open up various areas that have been off-limits to players so far. It adds a range of combat-heavy PvP modes, with 1v1 battles as well as arena duels. Fans have been requesting this feature since the game's launch earlier this year, which makes it all the more surprising that they’ve managed to make it in such a short period of time.
The three modes explicitly mentioned by FromSoftware are duels, free-for-alls, and team fights. These break down as follows.
First up is United Combat, which is your average team deathmatch mode with an Elden Ring spin. That's followed by Combat Ordeal, which is a free-for-all mode with a time limit to determine the winner.
Next is Duel Mode, which is a flat-out 1v1 with no respawns whatsoever. You'll need to be at your peak skill level to win duels here.
The final mode is called Caelid Colosseum, which is a feature that augments all three of the previous modes to let you summon Spirit Ashes to fight alongside you. This adds a whole new layer of skill, as you duel with AI partners by your side.
