The release date for the huge DLC expansion Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has been officially revealed by Bandai Namco. With fans eagerly awaiting a new look at the mega-expansion, they will only be waiting a few months to play the new DLC.

Revealed in a press release and short trailer by publisher Bandai Namco, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion release date is currently set for June 21, 2024. The DLC will cost $39.99, almost the price of a full game, but we’re sure it’s worth the price.

We previously reported that the Elden Ring DLC was likely releasing this June, thanks to information from renowned leaker Billbil_kun. As it turns out, the leaker - who previously leaked the announcement of PlayStation’s Until Dawn remake - was correct once again.

The new DLC will focus on the darker side of Elden Ring’s story as you explore the Land of Shadow and “confront threatening bosses with new weapons and armor”. Check out a short trailer below:

Bandai Namco is taking full advantage of the expansion’s hype with multiple versions of the game releasing at the same time.

For example, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion will be available as an expansion for the base game for $39.99. However, ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree Edition will release simultaneously as a retail packaged bundle including the base game and a code for the expansion.

There’s also a premium edition which comes with a digital art book and digital soundtrack bonus content as well as a digital deluxe edition that comes with all that plus the base game. If that wasn’t enough, there’s even a Collector’s Edition that comes with all that plus a (46cm) statue of “Messmer the Impaler,” and a 40-page physical art book.

From Software and Bandai Namco are still keeping the contents of the Elden Ring DLC a closely guarded secret before release, but fans at least know when they can play the long-hyped expansion now.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4 and PC on June 21, 2024.
