We’re pleased to announce the return of the Gfinity Elite Series for season two, starting on the 6th October 2017 and broadcast live from the Gfinity Esports Arena in London.
Following the huge success of the first Elite Series, which saw 40,000 hours of action broadcast, 220m impressions on social from fans and nail-biting finales in Street Fighter V, CS:GO and Rocket League broadcast to over 3m fans around the globe, we can confirm that the Elite Series will be returning on 6th October. The series will run until 9th December, when the champions will raise the trophies at the Gfinity Esports Arena.
The schedule has SFV retaking its “Friday Night Fight” slot, while Rocket League moves to Saturday mornings, allowing CS:GO to close out the gameplay on Saturday evenings. In addition, the Gfinity Elite Series will also see the return of the eight professional franchises with some fan-favourite players and new faces.
To prepare for season two, the second Elite Draft was held on the 15th September where the eight professional teams battled it out to add new players to their rosters from the top qualifying ametuer players who earned their spot from competing online in the Gfinity Challenger Series.
Greg Champagne, Managing Director of Team Epsilon said: "Following a very successful Elite Series for Epsilon Esports and building an entire Rocket League team from drafted players, we look forward to seeing the new player talent coming from the Elite Draft and truly excited for the second season of the Gfinity Elite Series to get underway so we can start the campaign for defending our title."
Neville Upton, CEO, Gfinity plc says: “Following the incredibly successful Gfinity Elite Series season one, we are extremely pleased to bring back all the competitive professional gameplay live at the Gfinity Esports Arena and broadcast online and on linear television starting the 6th October. We also welcome back some of the best players in the competitive gaming community and look forward to seeing the newly discovered talent that comes from the Challenger Series via the Elite Draft.”
