A new MMORPG is coming to market with Ethyrial Echoes of Yore. Developed by Gellberry Studios and published by Freedom Games, players an in for a treat for some old-school and hardcore MMO gaming. While there hasn't been much information yet on the upcoming game, we've prepared to you this hub on everything we know so far.
You'll be able to band together with fellow players and brave the dangers of Irumesa to bring dark secrets to light. Moreover, players are to expect to explore a living MMO environment brought to life by the players themselves.
Ethyrial Echoes of Yore - Everything we know so far
At the moment, we know that Ethyrial Echoes of Yore is an MMORPG game that takes inspiration from the classics with its old-school and hardcore style. Its premise revolves around a world on the brink of civil war, which is Irumesa. Players will have to navigate politics, fight monsters, create guilds with friends, and usher in a golden era. However, you can drown Irumesa in the dark ages if you aren't careful.
Plot
As mentioned earlier, Ethyrial Echoes of Yore takes place in Irumesa, which is a place filled with danger around every turn. While the power-grabbing nobles fight among themselves, that's the least of your troubles in this game because of the monstrous beasts that also lurk in dark corners of the world. In the middle of it all, there's you and your friends, who start your adventure in Edrivine, the world's crumbling capital. Only you and your allies can possibly determine the fate of the world.
You'll be able to tread through dangerous territories on the outskirts of the empire. There are also peaceful areas that surround the capital. Furthermore, you'll be able to journey across the world such as taking on the mountains, seas, deserts, and even snow.
Do take note as well that Ethyrial's story isn't simply fixed. As seen in the description of the game's Steam page, there will be a continuous story. This means that your choices made in the game will have consequences, however, explored in expansion packs. Every decision you make in Ethyrial may come back to haunt you in one or two expansions' time. With that, you won't ever tire of playing.
Gameplay
The game features a character system wherein your choices and skill mastery become essential to avoid brutal defeat. Teamwork is emphasised in the game, so that you can overcome the dangers of Irumesa. Teams can head into dungeons, challenge bosses, and even solve mysteries in ancient ruins. There are also hidden civilisations and long-forgotten arcane strongholds that are worth exploring for players.
High-risk gameplay is also part of Ethyrial, because of the huge challenges players can encounter that can return bigger loot. The high-level crafting materials and blueprints can even unlock quality gear or loot that is uniquely tied to each character.
As some of the loot will be limited, the only way to get rare loot is by trading, stealing, or killing the player holding such loot. In line with that, killing is risky in PVP, as each kill will put a bounty on a player's head. This attracts heat from guards, NPC bounty hunters, and even other players. While death doesn't have any major impact on the game, your character will drop their entire inventory and lose experience upon being killed.
Highlighted features
One of the major features players will love in this game is the extensive crafting that comes with it. As Ethyrial is more than just simply battling in dungeons, you'll also be able to supply and support players as a crafter by creating gear, consumables, and other items seen in the game.
In terms of property, you'll also be able to stake claims to property in the overworld that only you as a player can own. Customisation is quite immense too for your property, because you'll be able to make small cabins, trading posts, and build fortresses.
Another feature that comes with Ethyrial is the the Guilds. Guilds can comprise of you and a few of your friends, or have it publicly opened to a bigger population. There will be public server events for guilds, trading, and even community ownership of land.
When is the Ethyrial Echoes of Yore release date?
Ethyrial Echoes of Yore released in early May 2023 on Steam. It's free to play as it stands, with more updates coming to add new content and tweak features that may not have been perfect in the initial release.
