EU Pro League: Week 6 Preview

Who will be crowned champions?

The stage is set for the final week of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare European Pro League, as the finest teams in the region prepare to clash for one last time on Wednesday, 22nd July 2015, at 8:00pm BST. With the inaugural Call of Duty Pro League crown on the line, the stakes could not be higher, as Vitality Storm, Epsilon eSports, Team Infused and HyperGames Team all sit within 3 points of each other.

While Vitality and Epsilon maintain their everlasting battle for the coveted spot at the top of the league, Team infused have managed to reclaim their bronze medal placing, following HyperGames unexpected 3-3 draw with VwS. However, in order to maintain their top 3 placement, Infused are faced with the monumental task of overcoming league leaders Vitality Storm.

Let's take a peek at the standings so far. More in-depth information, including details on the concurrently running Championship Division, can be found here.

The bottom half of the table remains unaltered since last week’s standings, with Gamers2, Millenium, VwS and OverGaming Club respectively occupying 5-8th in the league.

Vitality have managed to extend their slender lead over Epsilon to +4 in map difference, however, with several vital fixtures taking place this week, we may be in store for a dramatic end to the season.

There are 4 games scheduled in the Premiership Division for Week 6, as always, each taking place concurrently tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd. Let's discuss the matchups individually in more depth.

Vitality.Storm vs Team Infused

In arguably the biggest clash of the week, Premiership leaders Vitality.Storm can secure the European Pro League title with a win tomorrow night. They face Team Infused, who also need a win in order to secure a third place finish.

Heading into the final week, both teams look fairly confident, with Vitality coming off the back of a flawless sweep of Gamers2, while Infused comfortably beat OverGaming. However, with HyperGames breathing heavily down their neck, the pressure may be too much for the #RedArmy.

There's a lot on the line is this match, so both teams will be coming out strong to try and secure their places in the final standings. It'll be a close one, but I believe Vitality will edge it, and take home the crown.

HyperGames vs Gamers2

HyperGames will be keeping a close eye on the Vitality vs Infused game while they take on Spanish squad Gamers2 tomorrow night. If HyperGames can beat Gamers2 while Infused fall to Vitality, they would sneak in at the death and snatch third from the grasp of Infused.

Gamers2 will be looking to finish the season on a high, after suffering a drubbing by Vitality last week. A victory tonight would see them regain some confidence and secure their current fifth place.

Personally, I believe there is only one way this match will go, and it's with the French standing tall. Whether they finish third depends on other results, but you can be sure HyperGames will do their part.

Millenium vs VwS

This season hasn't gone quite as well for Millenium as they might have hoped. Currently sitting in sixth, Gotaga and his team of French superstars haven't set the league on fire, but nevertheless, I expect them to brush aside a VwS team who have struggled throughout the league.

A final day underdog story would be nice for VwS, but unfortunately, I can't see it happening.

Epsilon eSports vs OverGaming Club

Epsilon needs a win tomorrow night to have any chance of catching Vitality at the top of the table, and they couldn't have asked for a better opponent to face. While Epsilon have dominated their competition in the league, OverGaming have struggled, picking a single point all season, while Epsilon have lost just once.

However, following their surprising roster change, all eyes will be on Epsilon after this past weekend’s announcements, as Madcat returns to the UK, replacing MarkyB, despite Epsilon winning back to back events.

Will the roster change affect Epsilon in their chase to catch Vitality? Doubtful… I expect Epsilon to thrash OverGaming, and do their part in the title challenge.

Championship Division

Here's a look at the Championship Division league table heading into Week 6.

It's a three horse race in the Championship Division, with Spirit Gaming, IGI eSports and exceL.Black all in with a shot at taking home first place.

Spirit Gaming currently sit two points clear at the top, and face bottom side fabE Gaming, knowing that a win will put them out of reach of the competition.

Meanwhile, second faces third in a heavyweight clash, with both teams well aware that a win will give them a shot and winning the title if Spirit Gaming were to lose.

Expect plenty of drama tomorrow night as this division goes right to the wire.

Week 6 of the European Pro League is sure to throw up some drama and surprise as teams vie for final placings in their divisions. You certainly wont want to miss it, and we'll make sure you want. Keep an eye out on Gfinity.net tomorrow for an article featuring match times, stream links and more.
