A lot of Fallout 4 mods are designed to bring beloved features and characters from previous games in the series to the Commonwealth or simply to re-work areas of the game you’ll have walked through a thousand times.

However, sometimes a mod will introduce a completely new mechanic or item to the game that’ll completely revolutionise your adventures, forcing you to play in ways that you’d never have anticipated.

One new mod aims to do exactly this by taking your beloved collection of stimpaks and rendering it useless, thereby making your only means of healing to drink as much Nuka Cola as you can.

Are you looking forward to hunting for cola in Fallout 4 whenever you’re low on health?

The mod in question is called ‘Nuka-Health’ and is the first work of modder JHawk308, whose previous modding efforts have helped add a very swanky golden sniper rifle to Fallout New Vegas.

This time, possibly inspired by Tamayo831’s ‘Nuka-Cola Stimpack’, they’ve decided to turn Nuka Cola into the water of life, ensuring that it’s now the primary healing item available throughout The Commonwealth.

That’s right, get ready to become Nuka Cola’s number one customer, with the regular version of the beverage healing you by 30% every time you drink it and repairing any crippled limbs, much in the same way stimpaks, which have now been rendered useless, once did.

If you’re lucky enough to come across any special variants of everyone’s favourite post-apocalyptic refreshment, such as Cherry or Quantum, you might get a bit more bang for your buck, with Quantum healing you by a pretty sweet 100%.

DLC beverages like Vim are also affected, meaning that you’re safe to head off to Far Harbor or Nuka World without risking running out of healing items just as a particularly nasty Gatorclaw or Fog Crawler shows up.

Another way to ensure that you’ll still be able to take on these kinds of foes despite switching out needles for swigs of cola is by taking the new Nuka-Medic perk, a re-named version of the vanilla game’s Medic perk which simply tailors its effects to your new sugary health potion.

You might need that boost too, as Nuka Cola’s nature means that you’ll now take a small amount of radiation damage every time you heal, making it imperative that you don’t throw out your supply of radaway when you dispose of your stimpaks.

Naturally, this mod might not be for those who’re big on immersion, but, as JHawk308 says, if you’re open to a playthrough that feels a bit more like playing New Vegas with the Wild Wasteland perk, it might be exactly what you’re looking for.
