How to feed animals in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Now, while the animals may look cute and fuzzy, feeding them can be somewhat challenging. It’s not quite as simple as throwing some food on the ground and allowing them to graze away.

As a general rule, once you find animals in the valley you need to wait for the ‘Approach’ prompt to appear before you can feed them. This allows you to open your inventory and subsequently give them the goods.

However, while the likes of Squirrels will give you an instant prompt, other animals can be very awkward and require some extra hoop jumping.

Land animals

The first animals in question are Rabbits, which seem to run away from you at any chance they get. The key to feeding Rabbits is to chase them three to four times and at this point, they will stop momentarily, allowing for the all-important prompt to appear.

Next, we’ve got Sea Turtles. If you have encountered these animals already, you’ll know that they will put their head back into their shell when you get close, stopping any interaction. To feed these you simply have to wait until the head reappears and the prompt should become available. So patience is key.

Third, there’s Raccoons. Just like in real life, these are pesky animals that require a very specific set of actions in order to get them fed. The way this is done is by moving towards them when they are in a sitting position and then standing still when they are in a standing position. Think of the red-light-green-light game from Squid Game. Once you make it all the way to them, the ‘Approach’ prompt will pop up.

Next up is probably the most vicious animal in the valley (albeit they are still very cute), we’ve got the Crocodile. The way to feed this animal is a very similar process to the Raccoon. If you see the Crocodile’s head in a downward position, then you can advance, and if it's up, you must stop.

Back to a tamer beast, the next animal we'll show you how to feed in Disney Dreamlight Valley is Foxes. To feed these wily animals you must chase them, in a similar way to how you chase Rabbits. At this point, you should have a bunch of experience in this area, so it should be relatively easy.

Flying animals

Now we’re onto the flying portion of the animal kingdom, with Sunbirds. These are super easy to feed as you’ll just need to head right over to them and the prompt should appear instantly. No messing around with this one.

Finally, there’s the Ravens. These are a little trickier than Sunbirds, as you will need to initially approach them and wait until they fly around in a circular motion. After the Raven does this a few times it will start to descend and at this point, you should have the option to feed it.

But there you have it, that wraps up all the animal feeding you need to do in the game. Keep in mind that each animal also has a favourite food, so don’t be disheartened if what you initially give it isn’t quite up to scratch.
