Midgar has an eco-friendly future (Final Fantasy VII)
Corporate greed did a number on Midgar and its citizens. But after the defeat of the fearsome Sephiroth in a hard-fought battle, it seems that Midgar will live many more years for future generations to come.
The final scene, where Red XIII and his offspring run across a verdant field of grass and flowers, signifies a healthy environment with great potential to thrive.
Yuna reunites with Tidus (Final Fantasy X-2)
Final Fantasy X-2's endings can be very divisive since there is much to do when choosing from even one of these paths.
The perfect ending is arduous, but seeing Yuna reunite with Tidus gives fans closure, especially considering what the poor girl had to go through.
Terra and friends save the world (Final Fantasy VI)
Or rather, prevent the world's destruction. To say that Terra Branford and her friends earned another chance to keep drawing their breath against the menace of Kefka Palazzo is an understatement.
The Mad Clown was dangerously close to splitting the earth, and Terra and her friends were within an inch of their lives. Fortunately, the heroes did not flinch and fought their hardest, ending Kefka's horrendous vision of the apocalypse.
Zidane reunites with Dagger (Final Fantasy IX)
Final Fantasy IX earned many fans for its incredibly deep and rich narrative and charismatic cast of characters. After Zidane sacrifices himself for the cruel Kuja, his friends think they will never see the plucky thief again.
But after a year, a disguised Zidane appears before her love, Queen Garnet, tying a beautiful and definitive knot to their poignant love story.
Noctis fulfils his destiny (Final Fantasy XV)
While Final Fantasy XV has been divisive for its gameplay and plot, its ending might be one of the franchise's best. Noctis has always found strength and comfort with his friends, and his sacrifice to save Ardyn is tragic proof of this.
However, his reunion with Lunafreya in the afterlife and the appearance of a photo showing him and his friends together serve as a bittersweet closing chapter to his heroism.
With the successes garnered by Final Fantasy's most recent releases, the franchise still has a claim to its trademark superior storytelling distinction.
