The rumored Final Fantasy IX remake has been leaked yet again, ensuring that fans will be able to revisit Zidanne’s adventure one of these days. Square Enix still hasn’t confirmed if they are working on this remake, but this leak has essentially confirmed that something involving FF9 is coming.

Fans on ResetEra (via Wario64) have discovered that the launch of EpicDB has accidentally leaked some games that are in development. We not only have confirmation that games like The Last of Us Part 2 and Final Fantasy XVI are coming to PC, but that the Final Fantasy IX remake is real.

Numerous insiders have talked about this remake for sometime, so it was bound to get revealed one of these days. It’s a shame that we had to find out like this, but we’re at least happy to know that the remake is real and Square isn’t just milking Final Fantasy VII.

Square Enix has been very open about bringing more of their games to other platforms and that includes PC. The company previously made some exclusive deals with Epic Games and PlayStation but it seems those days are over.

Leaks regarding the Final Fantasy IX remake have been interesting, with insiders claiming that this will be a more faithful remake than what we’ve seen with Final Fantasy VII. While Cloud’s crew got beautiful graphics, a meta story, and real-time combat, it seems that FFIX will stick with turn-based combat.

Final Fantasy IX is one of the most beloved entries in the franchise, as it was the last game to have a pure fantasy setting before Final Fantasy XVI. The game has had several re-releases in recent years, so anyone curious about Zidanne’s journey can pick it up for every major gaming system.

At the time of writing, we don’t know when the Final Fantasy IX remake will be coming out. When it does, expect to see this game hit current-gen systems like the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
