Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be building on the successful foundation of Remake and adding a number of fan-requested improvements. In addition to a longer adventure and The Gold Saucer, Square Enix is also adding customisable costumes for the JRPG’s cast.

Naoki Hamaguchi spoke with Final Fantasy Dream (via Genki) and confirmed that there would be alternate costumes for Cloud and his party. Hamaguchi says that fans who love customising their characters are in for a treat, so we can’t wait and see what these costumes might be.

Costumes for the crew weren’t shown, though we’re hoping for some fan-favorite suits to make it in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. There are obvious favorites, like the original costumes from the PS1 games, but we also want to see them don their costumes from Advent Children.

Many fans have wanted costume customisation in the series since Final Fantasy VII Remake. The beloved Honeybee Inn scene is a big reason why, as fans got to see Tifa, Aerith, and Cloud in some fabulous dresses. Unsurprisingly, alternative looks for the characters have become huge in the modding scene, with Tifa often being the main focus of these.

Having alternate costumes in video games is always fun since it freshens things up and gives players an excuse to replay their favorite titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will definitely be replayed a bunch once New Game Plus gets added to the PS5 exclusive, thanks to its numerous costumes. The same thing can be said for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth since fans would love to tackle harder difficulties with more costumes to use.

Alternate costumes are only some of the major improvements we’ve seen in this sequel to Remake. Most fans love how much bigger the world is now, with plenty of side quests and hidden bosses confirmed for hardcore players. There are also the aforementioned mini-games in The Gold Saucer, which should provide gamers with some fun distractions.
