Original Story Follows:

Fans might be disappointed to hear that the database update doesn’t have a date yet, but going by the franchise’s history is likely to arrive in late February or even early March.

That means if you’re insistent on waiting to kick off a new game, you might have to hold off for a few weeks yet – even with the transfer windows slamming shut days ago.

The reason for the delay is pretty important, though. These updates aren’t just simple matters of moving players from one region to another.

In fact, Sports Interactive usually delves into its incredible wealth of stats and tweak player attributes in order to better reflect their real-life counterparts. They’ll also factor in any injuries, as well as loan moves and contract changes, too.

While you can download some fresh updates from the community (many of which are impressively detailed and will land long before the official version), you just need to turn on Steam auto-updates to grab the fresh squads as soon as they’re available.

If you are looking for an unofficial database update, you can find one via the folks a Sortitoutsi here – in fact, it’s been updated today.

Simply save the database in the “Editor Data” folder within the programme files and hey presto – your Arsenal squad has Cedric Soares and your Spurs squad has Steven Bergwijn.

Will you be freshening up your game, or are you still waiting for the official update?
