Fortnite players remember the disappearance of the fan-favourite boss Midas back in Chapter 2. After the loot shark attack of 4 years ago, many believed that Midas had officially been eliminated. However, Update 29.01 has brought back the gold-handed boss from the depths of the Underworld – although now with a different touch.
Midas is now known as ‘Ascendant Midas’ and you can find him on the Battle Royale Map. If you’re excited to pay a visit to the old familiar Boss but don’t know where to go then we have you covered. We’ll be covering how to find Midas’s location, and what makes Ascendant Midas different. So let’s dive right in.

Midas’s Current Location
Midas' whereabouts after the events of Chapter 2 were shrouded in mystery. Whispers spoke of him being imprisoned within The Underworld. But Midas, ever resourceful, managed to break free.
Players seeking the golden touch can now find Ascendant Midas aboard The Marigold, his recognizable yacht. It rests on the western part of the island, right between the grassy plains and The Underworld. Look for him on the sundeck at the rear of the vessel, where he's known to frequent.
How has Midas Changed
Although many players expected Midas to return back as game boss, Midas now acts as a friendly NPC. Similar to other Fortnite NPCs, Ascendant Midas offers players the opportunity to acquire items and services through gold. His purchasable offerings include:
- Epic Drum Gun (300 Gold): This weapon, making a welcome return in update v29.01, is a powerful close-range option for players.
- Midas also possesses the ability to heal players for a fee. However, this service is dependent on the player's current health status.
In keeping with the standard NPC functionality, Ascendant Midas provides a complimentary item upon interaction. Players can receive a Shield Potion or relevant items.
Given the recent v29.01 update and the highly anticipated return of Ascendant Midas after a four-year absence, players may experience temporary stability issues when attempting to interact with him. These are likely due to server load or character model adjustments. However, players should be able to successfully engage with Midas with time.
Note: Currently, obtaining a Mythic Drum Gun in Fortnite is unattainable. Thus, defeating Midas will only yield a Drum Gun of Blue rarity. While it's a solid weapon for early-game scenarios, players must consider whether pursuing it is worthwhile.
That's all you need to know about where to find Midas in Fortnite. If you feel the need, pay the old boss a visit.
