The release of a brand new Fortnite patch is upon us!
Patch 15.10 is going to implement a lot of exciting content for Fortnite players.
The release of the new 'Performance Mode' is an exciting one for sure. As well, Winterfest 2020 appears to be within this update.
Fortnite used to be a game that required over 80 GB of storage, but now a new feature has made the game as low as 17 GB.
Here's how to save even more space!
High-Resolution Textures
Announced via the 'Performance Mode' blog post, which can be found here.
It appears Epic is rolling out more ways for you to save some storage space.
Back during Fortnitemares 2020, they secretly reduced the space of the game by over 60 GB; and now they are reducing it even more.
Epic has noted the following:
With the launch of Performance Mode, players will also be able to opt-out of high-resolution textures through the Epic Games Launcher installation options page.
This will remove around 14GB of high-resolution content for a final game size as low as 17GB with all optional components removed. For players using lower scalability settings or running at lower resolutions, this can save a lot of disk space for a small amount of in-game quality loss!
So, Fortnite is now going to be one of the smallest games on your storage device it seems! A great move by Epic, as games are only getting larger and larger, so any way to save storage is appreciated.
Below are the steps Epic has noted in order to save this additional 14 GB:
1. Open the Epic Games Launcher.
2. Click on Library.
3. Locate Fortnite and click on the three dots next to it.
4.Click on Options.
5.Check the box next to Use High-Quality Textures.
There you go! This should do the trick and now you are ready to go.
