Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 is now live, and plenty of new features have been added to the game, including 5 new weapons, a Lego festival, Rocket Racing, and the ability to customize your guns with numerous modifications. In this guide, we will explain everything about Fortnite weapon mods and how they work.

Fortnite's weapon modification feature is an excellent mechanic that allows you to personalize your weapon experience and enhance it with attachments. Although other battle royale games like PUBG and Apex Legends have similar mechanics, Fortnite has implemented it uniquely.

When you enter the new season of Fortnite, you will encounter different weapons with pre-installed weapon attachments. Their number depends on the rarity of the weapon:

  • Uncommon Rarity Weapon – 1 Weapon Mod
  • Rare Rarity Weapon – 2 Weapon Mods
  • Epic Rarity Weapon – 3 Weapon Mods
  • Legendary Rarity Weapon – 4 Weapon Mods

These weapon attachments include modifications to the Barrel, Magazine, Sights, and Underbarrel, allowing you to customise your weapon as you wish. For example, you can create a long-range assault rifle by modifying it with a 2x Sight, Grip, Compensator, and Drum Magazine.

How to mod your weapon in Fortnite

You will have to try your best to modify weapons in Fortnite because there are only 5 workbenches available for modification, and all of them are located in vaults that require defeating a boss to enter. These vault locations are often crowded with other players, who are willing to get precious vault loot and modify their weapons, so you will have to fight for these. To modify your weapon, you need to do the following:

  • The first step is to find one of the 5 bosses with a medallion. It can be either Oscar, Nisha, Montague, Valeria, or Peter Griffin.
  • Next, you'll need to defeat the boss and take their medallion, which serves as the key to the vault.
  • Then, enter the vault, and you will see a customization rack where you can modify your weapon.
  • Keep in mind that you'll need gold bars to modify your weapons, and it's worth saving them for legendary weapons to get the most out of them.
