Pokemon Legends: Arceus just dropped a new gameplay video, detailing numerous mechanics and changes compared to other entries in the series. Released on the official YouTube channel, this 13 minute video answers a few fan queries.
This video covers which items you'll be crafting, missions players are going on, and how Pokémon encounters differ. Featuring side missions, boss fights and a greater focus on completing the first Pokédex, Arceus looks like a meaty RPG, going against the usual formula of beating gyms and winning the Pokémon League.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus Gets a Lengthy Gameplay Preview
Open-world exploration and side quests aside, some aspects from older Pokémon games are still here. Players can customize their avatars with various outfits and hairstyles, while Pokémon battles still rely on the classic turn-based system. There's a new Quick Style/Strong Style mechanic that lets players prioritize speed or power, but it doesn’t change the formula too much.
We’re a few weeks away from Pokémon Legends: Arceus' launch on Nintendo Switch, the most experimental main entry to date. Fans that prefer a more traditional Pokémon experience can get the recent Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes, available now on Nintendo Switch.
