Gears of War: E-Day has taken the world by storm with everyone talking about it, including series creator Cliff Bleszinski. While the creator hasn’t been involved with the series since Coalition took over, E-Day’s trailer was so eventful that Bleszinski had to comment on it.
Like a lot of Xbox fans, Bleszinski is a big fan of what was shown in the E-Day trailer. The Gears creator praised this prequel for going back to Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, acknowledging this game’s back to basics premise. Although fans and critics did enjoy the previous Gears games, it seems none of the characters did it for them like this duo.
Bleszinski also pointed out how the Gears of War: E-Day trailer briefly played a bit of the song Mad World. Hardcore fans will remember how the first Gears game had an epic trailer that used this song to perfection, so this was a nice callback.
Reception to the E-Day trailer has been mostly positive, with many fans and critics agreeing with Bleszinksi here when it comes to what the game nails. At the time of writing, the only thing missing is actual gameplay, since the trailer was entirely cinematic. Even the new Fable game had at least two or three seconds of gameplay, but this can be fixed with future trailers.
Fans don’t need revolutionary new gameplay or anything, they just want Gears of War: E-Day to continue this series’ brutal third-person shooting. It’s been a while since the series was relevant, so fans might forget how everyone was trying to do third-person shooting like Gears back in the PS3 and Xbox 360 days. Hopefully, E-Day is the game that puts this series back on the map and maybe even sells an Xbox Series or two.
Gears of War: E-Day doesn’t have a release window at the time of writing, though it looks to be another Xbox and PC exclusive. Anyone with an Xbox Series console or Game Pass can replay the entire series right now.
