Will God Of War: Ragnarok Come To PS4 As Well As PS5?

God of War: Ragnarok, the next entry in Sony Santa Monica's franchise, is slated to launch on PS5 this year – at least as far as we know.

With the likes of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon: Forbidden West coming to both Sony's new console and PS4, though, many have wondered if Kratos' latest adventure would do the same.

While we don't have official confirmation yet, here's what we do know.

Will God Of War: Ragnarok Come To PS4 As Well As PS5?

David Jaffe, the series creator, mused on a recent live stream that he was "sure the next God of War will be on PS4, PS5".

"Of course, it will be", he added, which prompted many outlets to suggest Ragnarok would be a cross-gen title.

Following up with an expletive-filled tweet, Jaffe noted that he is not privy to any further information and was making his own assumption.

Apologies in advance for the coarse language.

What @‘s the matter w/some of y’all fuckstix?! I have ZERO knowledge if the new GOW Is crossgen (but come on, of course it is). I was stating an opinion based on things Jim Ryan has said in press and the fact that I’m not a fucking moron. It’s not my place to reveal ANY GOW info.

With PS4 numbering over 110 million units sold, it certainly makes sense as to why Sony would look to bring Kratos and Atreus' latest adventure to as many players as possible, but it's not guaranteed.

It's worth noting that Jaffe's last contributions to the God of War franchise were made back in 2007 when he worked on the second instalment as a creative director. He wasn't involved in the reboot, so we'll have to wait for official word about platforms for its sequel.
