Despite GTA 5 and GTA Online’s relying a lot on criminal activities to entertain players and provide them with a means to earn the massive fortune necessary to afford the finest cars and properties on offer in updates, it can be easy to wonder what being a law-abiding citizen in the GTA universe would be like.
After all, surely if it’s the police’s duty to defend you from murderous griefers, rather than chase you instead, life would be a dream, right?
One modder certainly seems to think so, having developed a means for rehabilitated GTA protagonists to return to the grind of legitimate work.
GTA players now have the option to go legit
The mod in question is called ‘Real Life Jobs (Menyoo)’ and is the work of modder Gogol210, who has previously dialled up the horror factor in GTA by adding a creepy granny's house and scary forest into the game.
This time though, they’ve used their modding powers to inject the much more terrifying horrors of a regular nine to five job into the lives of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.
While some of the occupations now on offer to the three protagonists, such as hunting, running repossessions for car dealer Simeon Yetarian and working at the docks will be familiar to those who’ve spent significant time in vanilla story mode, there are some new jobs on offer.
For example, have you ever thought about filling in for the poor mechanic at LS Customs who’s spent years turning your wrecked automobiles back into pristine rides for minimal compensation? Well, now you can.
Or maybe you’re up for a shift at Burger Shot, achieved with the aid of PlasticTangerine’s ‘Working Restaurants’ mod, followed by a stint delivering pizzas and some time on a building site.
Whatever you choose, it will probably be slightly less dangerous than holding up liquor stores and robbing banks, though you can probably kiss goodbye to your yacht-buying plans.
If that hasn’t put you off, you’ll want to grab MAFINS’ ‘Menyoo PC [Single-Player Trainer Mod]’ first, along with NewTheft’s ‘Open All Interiors’ and some of the optional mods listed in the jobs mod’s description, all of which will help it function as immersively as possible.
