Half-Life: Alyx has become arguably the pinnacle of VR to date, and has cemented its place as one of the best VR games of all time, so with the latest rumours we're all very interested as to when it could potentially release for PSVR 2.
While we don't have any concrete release date just yet, the most recent rumour caught our eye and planted the seed of the idea that we could, one day, experience the game on PS5...
Here's hoping! This is what we know so far.
Half-Life: Alyx PSVR 2 Release Date
So as we mentioned, we're only at the stage of 'rumours' so we don't have a release date just yet.
We could guess, but without an official release date for the PSVR 2 itself, we think it's better to hold out for more information to make any predictions.
In the meantime, let's take a closer look at what we do know.
Latest News
Asides from one tweet from Nick Baker, co-founder of XboxEra, we haven't heard much more on the topic since. That being said, the tweet itself was enough to get us excited, as it seemingly suggested that Half-Life: Alyx could be heading to PSVR 2.
This is based on his response to a question regarding if Sony and Valve would work out a deal to bring Half-Life: Alyx to Playsations VR2.
He replied, 'From what I’ve been told, they have. Not sure when it’s happening though. I thought this was one of those open secrets?'
While this is an exciting thought, it's best to always take these things with a pinch of salt, especially as nothing official has been announced just yet, but it does give a small glimmer of hope that the game will reach PS5 users.

The big question is, when?
With PSVR 2's release date still a mystery, despite a new product page and the PSVR 2 design reveal, although we think likely to release this year, could we see Half-Life: Alyx release alongside it?
With Horizon Call Of The Mountain heading our way, plus other rumoured PSVR 2 games, we'll just have to wait and see.
Why It's A Big Deal
Half-Life Alyx came out in March 2020 and currently sits at a 93% Metacritic rating. It is seen as one of the best VR experiences around, offering amazing graphics, incredible story-telling and unmatched gameplay.
For fans of the series, the game takes place between Half-Life and Half-Life 2, and was almost good enough to make up for the frustrating lack of Half-Life 3.
However, if you wanted to play it, you needed the right gear, namely a PC, but as one Twitter user replied, it looks like the PS5 can more than handle the iconic VR game.
If this does go ahead, we're predicting that this will be the definitive PSVR 2 game and help drive sales through the roof for the new VR headset, which take some of the pressure off games like Horizon Call of The Mountain.
If you want to play the game right now, you'll find that it works with any of the best VR headsets that are compatible with Steam.
Watch this space, we'll be back with you as soon as we hear more.
