A new Monster Energy promotion is offering up free digital copies of Halo 5: Guardians and an in-game emblem for Halo Infinite. That might be news all on its own, but the real interesting piece of info here is tucked away inside a survey.

If you sign up for an account at Monster-Halo.com, you’ll receive a code for the digital edition of Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One.

But a second promotion asks you to take a survey about your experience with the Monster Energy brand, promising a “player emblem” for the upcoming Halo Infinite, which was originally supposed to launch with the Xbox Series.

Upon completion of the survey, it tells you, “Your player emblem will be sent to the email address provided in February 2021.”

Don’t take this as anything concrete, but one could infer that February 2021 is the current target for Halo Infinite’s launch window.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, Xbox head Phil Spencer didn’t rule out the possibility of Infinite’s multiplayer and campaign components shipping separately.

“I think we want to make sure people feel like they have a Halo experience. I think we can look at options like that,” said Spencer. “I think that’s something to think about, but we want to make sure we do it right.”

In any case, the Monster Energy account you create in order to get a free Halo 5 download is how players can redeem energy-drink codes for in-game Infinite items and double-XP tokens.

Between now and December 31, U.S. residents can text a photo of their receipt from any Monster Energy drink purchase — along with the code “Unleash” — to 47056 to receive a unique skin for the MK50 Sidekick.
