Halo Master Chief Collection Getting Crossplay, New Options and Custom Game Browser in 2020

Halo Infinite may have disappointed some fans, but 343 has really turned the Master Chief Collection around since a rough launch in 2014.

The bundle of Halo mainline titles one-through-four, as well as spin-offs, Reach and ODST, is currently mid-migration to PC, with Halo 3 making the jump most recently. Fans have wondered if the PC and console versions will ever intersect, and now we have our answer courtesy of a Halo Waypoint blog post.

Halo: Master Chief Collection Getting Crossplay and More In 2020

The blog post promises a wealth of features coming to the game in the coming months, with crossplay between Xbox One and PC players (as well as presumably Xbox Series X owners) top of the list.

If you're worried about playing against mouse and keyboard players, have no fear - 343 has also confirmed input-based matchmaking is on their list of things to do, alongside server regions, a custom game browser, and even per-game graphics and audio settings.

If you do fancy going up against mouse and keyboard Spartans, 343 is adding compatibility for the input method to Xbox versions of the game.

Other additions include the likes of FPS caps, new key binding options, filesharing on PC, and Steam account linking. That's all good news in the run-up to Halo: Infinite, which has underwhelmed fans and prompted a developer response.

In better news, 343 has committed to adding the Halo 3: ODST campaign and Halo 4 to the PC version of the Master Chief Collection by the end of 2020., while ODST weapons will make their way into Halo 3 and vice versa. While it's not the best game in the franchise, I'm still hoping there's a way we can get Halo 5: Guardians on PC, just for the multiplayer alone.
