A brand-new trailer for Halo Season 2 shows what looks almost like an entirely different show compared to the controversial debut of the video game adaptation.
While Halo Season One was an okay series, it’s Silver Timeline shenanigans diverted heavily from the core of Bungie and 343’s Xbox exclusive sci-fi series. However, with Season 2, it looks like things are at least proving to me substantially more interesting, moving away from the cliche “Chosen One” narrative of its initial season.
Released on YouTube and a variety of social media platforms, Halo Season 2’s new trailer shows a much darker tone for the sci-fi show as it adapts the iconic Fall of Reach storyline. Yes, there’s a lot of changes from the source material, but Paramount has seemingly gone for a much darker tone that focuses on the most important part of the universe at this moment: the war between Humanity and The Covenant.
Furthermore, it seems that some fan feedback has been taken on board. While Master Chief’s face is still present in the trailer (after all, Spartans do take off their helmets in the lore, and even in games), he at least wears armour in active combat environments, outside of what seems to be a surprise attack on a UNSC base.
All in all, Halo Season 2 looks to be a huge step up from the show’s debut, and a much needed improvement if Paramount wants the show to survive.
Of course, this isn’t the only major improvement seen within the Halo franchise. Developer 343 Industries has done well to fix up Halo Infinite, its free to play sequel to Halo 5. With the arrival of Season 5, Infinite is the game it always should’ve been with plenty of maps, modes and the most robust Forge mode the series has ever seen.
Halo Season 2 will debut on Paramount Plus on February 8, 2024. Afterwards, an episode will release every week until March 21st.
