The strength of your armor is determined by three stats and a passive ability. While Stamina Regen and Speed have an obvious impact on the game, the Armor rating is still a mystery to many players.

Its purpose is quite simple, namely, the higher Armor rating, the less damage you get from shots and hits. Usually, this stat is the highest in heavy armor, but Speed and Stamina Regen have lower values. Therefore, if you like heavy and stationary weapons and want to tank for your allies, this armor is for you.

However, at the time of writing this article, the Armor rating is completely broken, which makes heavy armor useless. Tests have proved that a character wearing heavy armor and having Extra Padding dies from only 6 Scavenger hits or enemy shots.

Meanwhile, with light armor, the character is equally vulnerable and also dies from six hits. So we can conclude that the armor system does not work correctly, and until the developers release a patch that fixes this bug, we cannot recommend you use heavy armor.

For now, opts for light or normal armor because this way you will have better mobility and Stamina regen while having essentially the same level of protection as in heavy armor.

Normal armor can also be a viable option for you, especially if it has a good passive ability. By the way, the bug with Armor rating also works with friendly fire, so for now, unfortunately, you have practically no reason to use heavy armor.
