Regardless of whether you’re playing on PC or console, Helldivers 2 players are required to have an active PlayStation account to take part in the Galactic War. Not everyone agrees with this decision, but you won’t have a choice if you want to continue shooting space bugs with your friends.

How to Link Your Steam Account to PSN for Helldivers 2
You can link your Steam account to a PlayStation Network account by scanning the QR code that pops up after opening Helldivers 2. This will take you to a login page where you’ll be asked to enter your PlayStation account credentials.
If you don’t have a PlayStation account yet, you can create one through the Sony Account Management page. After scanning the QR code and entering your info into the login page, your Steam and PSN accounts will be linked and ready to go for more galactic warfare in Helldivers 2.
Going through this process used to be optional due to some technical issues during Helldivers 2’s launch, but it is now mandatory moving forward. This change is in effect from Monday, May 6, 2024, onwards for new Helldivers 2 players on Steam. Meanwhile, current players will be prompted to link their Helldivers 2 PSN and Steam accounts from Thursday, May 30, 2024, before becoming a permanent requirement from Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
According to Sony Interactive Studios, this is being done to help protect players from toxic online behaviour by "enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behaviour" and allowing "those players that have been banned the right to appeal."
And that’s our guide on how to setup Helldivers 2 PSN and Steam account linking.
