Heroes of Hammerwatch 2: How To Get All Characters

There’s no shortage of characters in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2, and each brings something different to the table.

You start with some familiar faces, but unlocking the hidden classes is where the fun begins. The thing is, they won’t just come your way.

This article will walk you through where to find each unlockable class and how to add them to your roster so you can shake things up and explore even more playstyles.

How To Get All Characters

Before jumping into the unlockable characters, it’s good to know which classes you can choose from.

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 starts you off with four playable classes: the Warrior, Paladin, Ranger, and Wizard.

Each class has something unique to offer, depending on how you play.

But the real thrill is finding the three extra characters hidden in certain spots on the game's maps.

Unlike the starting classes, the Rogue, Warlock, and Sorcerer are locked, and you'll have to track them down.

Every class is linked to a certain spot, so you’ll have to track down the NPCs to get them unlocked.

Since Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 is a roguelike, the maps switch up each time you play, so the locations of NPCs can differ from run to run.

Rogue (The Dark Caves)

You’ll find the Rogue class in the Dark Caves, a pretty risky spot that will test your navigating and fighting skills.

If you’re into fast-paced melee combat, this class delivers quick strikes and powerful area attacks to hit enemies everywhere.

The Rogue is a solid choice for those who want to stay light on their feet and hit hard.

Like the rest of the unlockable classes, you’ll have to poke around every corner of the Dark Caves to ensure you don’t miss the NPC.

Find the character and chat with them to unlock the Rogue class.

Warlock (The Temple)

Next on the list is the Warlock, found down in the Temple, surrounded by darkness.

Whether you're in their face or far off, the Warlock can dish out damage at any range.

The Warlock is your pick if you want a caster that can drain health and dish out dark magic all in one.

Like the Rogue, the Warlock’s NPC is somewhere in the Temple. Take a good look around to find them.

Once you discover it, a quick word with the Warlock will unlock the class.

Sorcerer (The Dark Citadel)

The Sorcerer is hiding in the Dark Citadel, hands-down one of the most intense areas.

The Sorcerer is all about elemental magic, throwing out huge attacks that can take down enemies, but their defense isn’t the best.

This class is great if you love dishing out huge elemental damage, even if you're not the tankiest.

To unlock the Sorcerer, head through the Dark Citadel and look out for the NPC offering the class when you spot them.

You’ll unlock the Sorcerer for your lineup once you interact with them, like the other classes.

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 uses a roguelike map, so the layout of each area is always random.

This means you can't count on recalling the NPC's last location from your previous session.

All it takes is some exploring to find these characters. Take it easy and check out every spot.

Your map will help you stay on track and not double back. It’s easy to miss tucked-away spots, so stay alert for anything unusual.

As you move through these places, remember that exploring goes beyond finding the NPCs.

The more you check out, the more resources you'll accumulate to enhance and grow your town.

These upgrades stick around, so there’s no need to rush through the levels—take your time and collect everything you can while hunting for those unlockable classes.

Once that new class is unlocked, switching is smooth sailing.

All that's left is to go back to your town and open the menu (press Escape or the relevant button for your platform).

Next up, hit the Switch Character option, and you can build a new character with whatever classes you’ve unlocked.

The good news is that switching characters doesn't reset your town's upgrades, so you can try out new classes without losing progress.
