The quirky but popular first-person shooter High on Life was very on-brand for Squanch Games, considering its ties to Rick and Morty, and their DLC is no different. One thing, however, that is different about the extension to the original game is the omission of a major character. Find out what happened to Kenny in High on Life!
Set two years after the events of High on Life, the DLC High on Knife focuses primarily on the origin story of the talking melee weapon Knifey. Expect to uncover a lot about the knife's past while meeting some new Gatlians with their own abilities and cringe-worthy one-liners.

What happened to Kenny in High on Life?
To put it simply, the bounty hunter main character in High on Life dropped Kenny. This isn't explicitly outlined throughout the story of High on Knife, but there are several inferences to the event that happened off-screen.
The first of these is at the beginning of the game when you speak to Gene and he tells you to hand in your bounty. He will turn the TV on to a new report which recaps the events of the original game. The reporter makes a comment during the recap where he mentions that the bounty hunter "lost his gun."
The second is during gameplay when Gene speaks to you over the radio and warns you not to drop any more weapons. He goes on to explain that they are living creatures and how fortunate you were to find Harper, who is the same species of Gatlian.
The third occasion is at the end of the game and may contain spoilers, but there is a passing comment made by an NPC about "dropping them where you dropped Kenny." There is no explicit explanation about where Kenny was dropped, only that it happened.
Why Kenny was really missing from High on Knife
The reality of Kenny's omission from High on Knife is not related to the game or story itself, which explains why there was no on-screen event or segment that went into detail about his disappearance. His lack of appearance is due to the absence of the voice actor behind the character, Justin Roiland.
Roiland, the co-creator and voice of the title characters in Rick and Morty, launched Squanch Games and became an integral part of the production. He was the voice of many characters in his projects, including Kenny, one of the major characters in High on Life.
Kenny's disappearance comes on the back of multiple allegations of sexual abuse against Roiland, who has since been removed from future Rick and Morty episodes. With his recasting in their flagship show, it comes as no surprise that he won't be contributing to any other related projects, including High on Knife.
