Hitman Developer IO Interactive "Looking To The Future"

Hitman 3 has been an impressive success, and despite IO Interactive working on Project 007, the studio is staffing up to work on multiple projects.

In a new interview with The Gamer, executive producer Forest Swartout Large acknowledged that the team is "continuously working on Hitman so we are already looking to the future".

Large also notes that Hitman 3 will receive additional content in the form of DLC, but that it won't form new locations.

"We are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is," Large revealed.

"I think for now we are not looking at new maps like the bank and the island," she revealed, referencing Hitman 2's additional DLC levels.

"We’re more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them. And this time around, we can use the whole trilogy. We can look back at Hitman 2016 maps, Hitman 2 maps - we have all the locations."

The franchise has offered Escalations since the 2016 episodic reboot, offering new targets for players to hunt in the game's existing locations with ever-increasing modifiers.

As we reported earlier this week, the game topped the physical game charts, knocking Animal Crossing: New Horizons off of the top spot.

In our review, we called Hitman 3 "a confident end to a trilogy that has steadily gained in reputation with each entry".

"It’s a beautiful, dark, and frequently testing entry in a franchise that has matured over two decades, and is undoubtedly the best way to kick off 2021."

IO Interactive confirmed that the game had recouped its development costs within seven days of launching.
