Apex Legends Reaches Nearly 400k Concurrent Players on Steam

Apex Legends Season 12 debuted this week. Calling it Defiance, that introduced the sabotaged Olympus map, our latest legend - Mad Maggie - and a 9v9 limited time mode called Control. Unsurprisingly for a live-service game, that's caused a resurgence in the player base.

As seen on SteamDB, Respawn's battle royale shooter hit an all-time peak concurrent player peak, reaching 392,998. Part of this increased count could come down to the Three Year Anniversary Event, which offers several login rewards.

Elsewhere in Apex Legends news, Respawn also announced that they'd made some unintentional changes to the SMG hipfire with Defiance's launch. Addressing this change via a tweet, Respawn confirmed that's since been reverted.

Apex Legends is out now on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. You can play via backwards compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S too, though we've seen talk that a native port's dropping soon. We'll keep you informed once we hear more, but in the meantime, why not check out our weapons tier list.
