Should you agree to learn the Crucio spell in Hogwarts Legacy?
There are many different quests related to the students of the Slytherin house. Fittingly, one of them allows you to learn some of the most terrifying spells in the entire Harry Potter franchise. This quest is called In the Shadows of the Study, where explore a huge dungeon made by Salazar Slytherin himself.
At the end of this quest, you will get an opportunity to learn the Crucio spell, as you will need to use it to solve the puzzle. There's an NPC named Sebastian Sallow who will help you to learn the spell and solve the puzzle. You will have the next three options:
- Refuse to learn the Crucio spell and let Sebastian cast it on you to solve the puzzle.
- Agree to learn the Crucio spell and let Sebastian cast it on you to solve the puzzle.
- Agree to learn the Crucio spell and cast it on Sebastian to solve the puzzle.
As you can see, two of these options allow you to learn the spell. Fortunately, there are no negative consequences of learning or using the Crucio spell. So, you should be fine if you decide to cast it on your enemies. However, learning dark magic may affect some dialogue choices down the line. That said, we haven’t found any serious negative consequences.
If you choose the second option, then you will be able to learn the spell and save your relationship with Sebastian. So, just learn it and let him cast it on you to get the best possible outcome.
However, if you play a really good wizard, then you can keep your character away from dark magic and refuse to learn Crucio. If you prefer to be an evil mage, then you can cast the spell on Sebastian and let him feel the pain. The decision is based on what kind of character you want to play.
