Breakdown

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong was officially rated in South Korea, hinting at a possible release date soon
  • The game also received its Xbox game page, with Xbox president Sarah Bond teasing its Game Pass debut
  • Silksong was announced in 2019 and little-to-no details have been revealed since

Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced back in 2019 but we haven’t seen any updates on the indie sequel since, minus the occasional trailer or two. Things have looked up in the past few weeks however, as the game not only got new online pages but also got officially rated.

A user in ResetEra (via VGC) confirmed that the Team Cherry-developed sequel was rated in South Korea, apparently being suitable for those 12 and above. Ratings like these are a major indication of games getting release dates soon, which is hopefully the case with Silksong here.

Xbox has also taken advantage of the renewed hype for Hollow Knight: Silksong, with company president Sarah Bond confirming it will appear on Game Pass at launch. Bond didn’t say when the game will be coming out, but this seems to imply that it will be coming soon.

While gamers never gave up on Silksong coming out, many were worried that the game would take too long to release. The 2019 announcement trailer may have done more harm than good in this regard, as fans have been begging for more details ever since. Now that there’s renewed hope in the game’s release, we might finally get some concrete details on the sequel soon.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has the unenviable task of following up 2017’s Hollow Knight, one of the best Metroidvania games ever made. Team Cherry’s indie darling made waves immediately when it was released on Switch and PC simultaneously, before eventually coming to other consoles. It was also incredibly difficult at times, getting comparisons to the Souls games because gamers are very unoriginal.

Silksong changes up the narrative quite a bit by letting players control Hornet, who was a boss and eventual ally in the first game. Fans are dying to know how different she will control when compared to the original game’s character. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long to know that.

It seems that Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally come out soon for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Curious fans can also pick up the first Hollow Knight on those same consoles.
