The Satisfactory map measures 7.972 km by 6.8 km and includes a variety of biomes, such as deserts, forests, and jungles, each with its own terrain and challenges.

Vehicles are necessary in Satisfactory to navigate and manage resources as your factory grows throughout the expansive alien world. Here’s how to craft your very own vehicle in Satisfactory.

How To Craft Vehicles In Satisfactory

Unlocking vehicles and advanced transport systems is tied to progressing through the game’s HUB Tiers, where vehicle blueprints and the materials needed to craft them are locked behind specific upgrades.

Pioneers can choose from seven vehicle types for personal travel, item transportation, or both. To unlock these vehicles, you need to diligently develop your factories to increase production, ensuring quicker resource availability for advanced milestones.

Once the blueprints are unlocked, you can enter Build mode and select the Transport tab to craft vehicles, which includes all available transport options.

After positioning the vehicle, you can either drive it manually or configure automated routes with waypoints to optimize material transport in your factory.

Below is a detailed list of each vehicle type, the requirements to unlock them, and all the information you need to know.

1. Tractor

  • Unlock Requirements: You need to reach Tier 3 (Coal Power) and unlock Vehicular Transport in the HUB.
  • Capacity: Small inventory (slots for transporting items).
  • Usage: The Tractor is the first vehicle you can unlock. It is primarily meant for short-distance transport of small resource quantities. It may be slower and less agile than advanced vehicles, but building and upkeep is inexpensive.
  • Fuel: It runs on solid biofuel or liquid fuels (like packaged fuel).

2. Truck

  • Unlock Requirements: You need to reach Tier 5 and unlock Industrial Manufacturing.
  • Capacity: Larger inventory means more goods can be carried.
  • Usage: The Truck is a significant upgrade from the Tractor. It's slower than the Explorer but rugged and can handle heavier loads over longer distances. It's a workhorse vehicle for mid-tier resource transport.
  • Fuel: Like the Tractor, it runs on solid biofuel or liquid fuels but consumes more due to its size.

3. Explorer

  • Unlock Requirements: You need to reach Tier 6 and unlock the Crystal Oscillator.
  • Capacity: Moderate inventory, but not as much as the Truck.
  • Usage: The Explorer is not primarily for transportation but is excellent for exploring the map, scouting resource nodes, and setting up outposts in hard-to-reach areas. It’s particularly useful off-roading and can handle steep slopes.
  • Fuel: Runs on fuel or packaged fuel and consumes more than the Tractor but less than the Truck.

4. Cyber Wagon

  • Unlock Requirements: This vehicle is an Easter egg. It can be unlocked by feeding one coupon into the AWESOME Sink.
  • Capacity: Similar to the Truck in terms of capacity.
  • Usage: While functional, the Cyber Wagon is more of a novelty than a workhorse. Its main appeal is the look rather than the performance. You can automate it just like the other vehicles, but it doesn’t add much in terms of unique capabilities. It’s an excellent addition for players who enjoy collectibles or Easter eggs in the game.
  • Fuel: Fuel consumption is similar to that of the truck.

5. Factory Cart

  • Unlock Requirements: The Factory Cart is available through the AWESOME Shop.
  • Capacity: Minimal; can carry a small number of items.
  • Usage: The Factory Cart is a small, compact vehicle designed to help you get around your factory quickly. It’s unsuitable for large-scale transportation and is prone to uncontrollable drifting on uneven terrain. You can also automate it for fun, but it’s mostly for navigating around your base.
  • Fuel: No fuel is required.

6. Train

  • Unlock Requirements: You need to reach Tier 6 and unlock Monorail Train Technology.
  • Capacity: Massive capacity, the largest of any transport option.
  • Usage: Trains are ideal for transporting huge quantities of materials over vast distances. The train network requires building rails and stations, which takes a significant amount of resources, but they are extremely reliable once set up. Trains are handy for connecting distant resource nodes to your central factory.
  • Fuel: Trains run on electricity and require power grids; they are more advanced but efficient in fuel consumption.

7. Drone

  • Unlock Requirements: You need to reach Tier 7 and unlock Aerial Transport.
  • Capacity: Low capacity but can carry high-value goods across the map.
  • Usage: Drones are aerial transport devices designed to carry small loads quickly across difficult terrain or very long distances. They don’t need roads or rails to bypass obstacles like mountains and rivers. They are automated and can be set up to transport high-value materials between faraway resource nodes and your factory. While their load capacity is low, they are excellent for moving specialized resources that are harder to access.
  • Fuel: Drones use batteries and require charging stations.

These vehicles are essential for different phases of the game. There’s also no cap on the number of vehicles players can use, so you can expand your logistics as much as needed.
