Bungie's Marathon reboot has been live for just over a week, garnering thousands of players, both old and new, and introducing them to the brutal planet of Tau Ceti IV.
At first, Marathon can be quite an overwhelming experience, with complex menus and mechanics often providing more questions than answers.
With additional content on the way and players eager to level up as quickly as possible in the early stages, many are wondering whether or not Marathon features Double XP. Here's everything you need to know!
Is There Double XP in Marathon?
Yes and no. While there aren't any official Double XP Weekends or Boosters currently available in Marathon, there are other ways to gain additional XP.

The game features a weekly reset every Tuesday that provides players with Bonus XP for their first 10 runs of the week, allowing them to earn an increased amount for those specific raids. These accelerated runs provide 50% bonus XP upon completion, and 50% increased XP gains from in-run sources upon completion.
To keep track of accelerated runs, hover over your season level icon in the faction rep rewards screen after completing a match. Here, you will be able to see how many accelerated runs you have left for the remainder of the week.

You can also gain a significant amount of extra XP by teaming up as a duo or three-man squad. When your teammates complete their priority contracts, you receive a portion of the XP on top of anything you've earned during the run, making it possible to stack rewards and level up much faster than playing solo.
Completing active contracts and extracting successfully is often more efficient for leveling up than solely fighting, although lone runners can look to achieve the best of both worlds for optimal progression.
Tau Ceti IV may be punishing, but thankfully, XP progression speeds are reasonable. This means that there's always a sense of reward in Marathon, whether your extraction was a success or not.
So, what are you waiting for? Take advantage of your first 10 runs of the week if you haven't already, and continue to prepare for the arrival of Cryo Archive!
