In order to unlock either of these mythical Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there are two separate prerequisites you need to have met. If you haven't met these, getting your hands on Mew and Jirachi is either going to be costly or require a very generous friend to trade with you.

First, for Jirachi, you need to have save data relating to prior Nintendo Switch title, Pokémon Sword and Shield. To unlock Mew, you must have save data for either Let's Go, Pikachu! or Let's Go, Eevee!

If you fill either, or both, of the prerequisites, here's what you need to do step by step in order to unlock the mythical pair:

  • Travel to Floarama Town.
  • Left of the Pokémon Center, there is a flower field with an elderly couple stood in it (pictured above).
  • Speaking with the old woman (right) will unlock Mew, provided you have Let's Go save data on your console.
  • Speaking with the old man (left) will unlock Jirachi, provided you have Sword and Shield save data on your console.

Now you've hopefully got your hands on Mew and Jirachi! You'll be able to add them to your party or send straight to a box. Whatever you do, be wary to not release or trade them; if you do this, you run the risk of never seeing them again, as you cannot get them off the old couple again.
