Destiny 2 Strange Coins are always useful when Xur comes to visit, and they're even handier with the Destiny 2 30th anniversary pack. You can get these by playing the new activity, Dares of Eternity, but there's a number of other ways to get your hands on Strange Coins as well. That's good, since you'll need to take on several Starhorse bounties to get the Forerunner gun.

How to Get Strange Coins in Destiny 2
Completing the Dares of Eternity is a good way to get Strange Coins since you'll also nab some Treasure Keys in the process. If you need a break from that, though, you can also get them by playing:
- Bounties
- Playlist strikes
- Crucible matches
- Heroic Public Events
- Gambits
What are Strange Coins for in Destiny 2
Spend Strange Coins with Starhorse to obtain bounties and get rewards for clearing them. The rewards themselves are usually worthwhile - XP and other handy bonuses - but the Anniversary Pack gives you another reason to collect Strange Coins: the Forerunner gun. Part of the requirements for unlocking it include both collecting seven Strange Coins and completing Starhorse bounties, which, again, cost Strange Coins.
Starhorse Rewards
Some of what you can get from Starhorse is:
- Bounties, for 3, 5, or 7 Strange Coins
- Treasure Key for 10 Strange Coins
- Legendary Engram for 3 Strange Coins
- 1,000 Glimmer for 5 Strange Coins
Of course, these events won't be going away anytime soon. You're free to gather Strange Coins at your own pace, which is what we recommend. Grinding activities in Destiny 2 just to get Strange Coins is a good way to get tired of the game fast.
