The Quarry is loaded with interesting choices and dire consequences. Sometimes, even the smallest choices result in explosives conclusions. If you're trying to figure out how to save Nick in The Quarry, this is what you need to know.
There are obviously going to be spoilers for huge chunks of the game ahead so don't read on unless you don't mind it being spoiled. Some of the story's beats won't be revealed but almost all the story around Nick needs to be, in order to pick the right choices.
If you're finally playing it for yourself and want to know how long The Quarry will take you to finish or how those multiplayer modes work, this is what you need to know.
How to Save Nick in The Quarry
There are four central parts that you need to watch out for in the story. Nick will always get bitten early on. Choosing to run or stay doesn't really make a difference if you manage to hit all QTEs. Nick will react poorly to Abi at a later scene if she leaves but it isn't necessary to keep him safe.
Nick will then begin to turn a few chapters later. If you want to keep Abi alive, make sure to shoot him. Failing to do so will result in him killing her. If you shoot him, he will run out the window and eventually get captured.
You will then find him later with Ryan and Laura searching underneath the Hackett home. Make sure to stop Laura from shooting him. Get Jacob out of the cell if you want him to live too.
Finally, you have to kill Caleb later in the main cabin if you want Nick to turn back immediately. To do so, you can accept the silver shotgun shells from Emma and Abi or you can lock him in the freezer and take him down from there.
If you want to keep as many people as possible alive, don't kill Caleb and choose to trap him instead. Then, as Laura, kill Silas to cure everyone else.
