If you're not familiar with the Dragon Ball universe, Sonic Sway is a dodge move mainly associated with Goku's father, Bardock. It is a high-speed evasive technique. You're able to dodge incoming attacks without spending too much energy.

Learning this technique becomes even more crucial when your opponent giving you a tough time in close combat. Despite performing a Sonic Sway, you will stay within striking range of your opponent. So you can dodge attacks and go for a quick counter-attack.

It's not an easy technique to perform. It requires a high level of speed and reaction time to make it work.

There are two different controller types.

Standard Control:

In the Standard control scheme for both Xbox and PlayStation, the Sonic Sway is performing more or less the same.

On Xbox, press RB (Guard) and B (Perception) to evade an attack, while on PlayStation, you use R1 (Guard) and Circle (Perception). Timing is crucial for both systems—press the guard button just before the opponent’s melee strike connects and use the perception button to direct your dodge.

Classic Control

As for the Classic one, It is executed using a combination of guard and attack buttons. On Xbox, press B (Guard) and Y (Ki Blast/Rush Chain) to dodge incoming melee attacks, while on PlayStation, you use Circle (Guard) and Triangle (Ki Blast/Rush Chain).

In case your opponent is performing a combo, you can chain multiple Sonic Sways by timing the guard button for each hit. While timing multiple Sways at once can be overwhelming a few times but in exchange it allows you to avoid an entire string of melee attacks and look for an opening to strike back.
