Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl has seen development put on hold, due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Developer GSC Game World is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, so the delay is hardly surprising given current events.
GSC Game World (via NME) released a short video on YouTube called “Lights! Camera! War…” explaining Stalker 2 will continue development “after the victory.” The video’s description links to several charity organizations that players can donate to, should they wish to help out the country’s citizens.
Stalker 2 Has Been Delayed Indefinitely
Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine, many gaming companies have made statements about these events. 11 bit Studios, CD Projekt Red, Gameloft, GSC Game World, and Crytivo have all issued statements, while Wargaming recently sacked World of Tanks' creative director for supporting this invasion.
Elsewhere in gaming, the ESL also confirmed they wouldn't admit teams "with apparent ties to the Russian government" in ESL Pro League 15. It’s clear that Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl won’t have a release date anytime soon, and our thoughts are with the country at this difficult time.
