This puzzle is part of the Savage Discovery quest, where your objective is to locate a lost stone tablet.

As you progress in your quest, you’ll acquire a key that unlocks the cellar near the Vatican post office.

Somewhere in this basement, you’ll also come across a locked box.

It probably feels like you’re missing a clue since the room doesn’t make the combination obvious.

But everything you need to know will be provided as you advance through the mission.

The real turning point is when you find the missing stone tablet, which is also within the vicinity.

This triggers a cutscene, after which a guard attacks you.

This encounter matters because taking down the guard unlocks the next stage of the puzzle.

When the battle is over, make sure to search his body.

This might slip under your radar, but it's worth seeking out, as it contains a crucial clue to the lockbox code.

The note reads, "November last year." Deciphering its meaning takes a bit of thought.

The game is set in 1937, so when the note says "last year," it means 1936.

Combining the month (November) and the year (1936), you’ll arrive at the four-digit code 1136. This code is your ticket to opening the cellar crate.

Head over to the crate and input the code 1136. You'll find Street Scrapper 1 inside, which gives a solid boost to your melee damage.

If you have the camera by now, take a photo of the inscription in the room.

This photo is part of a side quest with Father Antonio, so taking it now will save you time later.
