The Elephant in the Room puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is tricky, but it’s all about using hidden mechanics in innovative ways.

If you need help or want to catch every detail, this guide will walk you through each step of tackling this iconic challenge.

How To Solve the Elephant in the Room Puzzle

To find this puzzle, go to the far corner of Voss’ Camp, where the Royal Army Disguise is found.

Search for a staircase hidden behind a large green tent. Two soldiers watch over this area but won’t attack if you’re in disguise.

Move past them, and you'll find a Buddhist statue at the center of the ruins. Snap a picture of the statue to kick off the puzzle.

Once you complete this, your first goal is to locate and set up three hidden elephant figurines.

You need to track down and place three elephant figurines in the correct slots under the Buddhist statue.

Every time you place one, it unlocks new spots and routes.

First Statuette

First, look at the left side of the room. Use your lighter to burn through the fake wall, then look behind it for the first elephant statue.

Place the statuette in the slot on the far right under the Buddhist statue. This will open the right door, which leads to a pedestal inside.

Second Statuette

After that, take the second statuette from the cubby on the right wall. Set the statuette on the pedestal you revealed earlier.

Doing this will unlock the leftmost slot under the Buddhist statue and move on to the next area.

Take the first statuette from the right slot and place it in the leftmost slot below the Buddhist statue.

This will trigger a hidden passageway on the left side of the room. The left passage contains clues and items that give you more about the puzzle.

When you walk in, a Rebel Journal is on the ground. This document explains how the rebels controlled the ruins before the General and his forces moved in.

Keep going to find a map to the Sukhothai Relics with more lore. You'll reach a broken staircase at the end of this passage.

Climb up as high as possible, then look for a grapple point. Use your whip to latch onto it and swing to the next ledge.

This is where the third elephant statuette is, the one that helps solve the puzzle.

Once you have all three statuettes, head back to the main room and do the following to place them correctly:

  • Put the third statuette in the slot on the far right under the Buddha statue. This action reveals the second statuette on the pedestal to the right side of the room.
  • Take the second statuette and place it on the pedestal in the hidden passage on the left.
  • You can trigger another mechanism by dropping the third statuette from the far-right slot in the middle under the Buddhist statue.
  • Retrieve the second statuette from the left passageway and place it back into the rightmost slot under the Buddhist statue.

The secret passage will open when you put all three statuettes in the right spots.

Head into the newly unlocked room on the right to find the remains of an elephant skeleton. Snap a picture of the skeleton to complete the puzzle.

Before you head out, search the room for extra items, such as a shotgun or dynamite, which you can use against the enemies outside the ruins.
