Kirby continues to be Nintendo’s most reliable mascot as it reportedly prepares another port for Switch. If rumors are true, Nintendo isn’t waiting for the Switch 2 to release this game, giving the system a pretty quality sendoff. This isn’t even the first time Nintendo relied on the pink puffball to give their console a graceful farewell.

According to gaming insider NateTheHate, we’re going to be getting a port of Kirby: Planet Robobot which originally came out on 3DS. Nate confirmed this, replying to a fan asking about a specific port coming to the Switch. Considering the large amount of games featuring Kirby on Switch, this wouldn’t be too surprising.

Planet Robobot on 3DS is considered by many to be one of the Nintendo Icon’s best games, if not his best game. Some fans even prefer Planet Robobot over more modern adventures like The Forgotten Land or Star Allies. It will be interesting to see what changes they make to this re-release, especially after the stellar work they did with Return to Dreamland Deluxe.

Nintendo has ported 3DS games to Switch before and the results can vary. Sometimes they’re outstanding successes like Miitopia, getting a complete graphical overhaul that takes advantage of the Switch’s power. Other times it’s Luigi’s Mansion 2, a basic port that cleans up the resolution and framerate, but not much else.

Considering how Nintendo treats Kirby like a star ally, we can hope that this Planet Robobot port gets all the love in the world. Fans who’ve played the original know that the gameplay holds up, as it takes that classic Kirby formula and enhances it with the mechs. Hopefully, if this rumor is true, we also get spectacular graphics or some new modes added in.
