League of Legends: GOOD news for fans, as Riot finally promises to fix client

League of Legends is one of the world's most popular games, offering depth and strategy by the bucketload – without costing a penny.

One of the biggest turnoffs for new players, though, is the game's creaking client software. It crashes often, lags, and often leaves players wanting to just play something else.

Thankfully, Riot Games is committing to boosting the performance of the League of Legends client with something it calls the "Client Cleanup Campaign".

In a sizeable blog post, the developers have confirmed that they want to improve the speed of the software, from booting it up all the way to locking in a champion.

"Why prioritize these two things first? The reason is that, in the process of addressing bootstrap time and champ select lock-in time, we're going to be cleaning up and reworking certain fundamental aspects of the client's architecture." the post reads.

"We believe that we'll be able to opportunistically address bugs, memory leaks, and crashes while pursuing these targets".

Riot certainly likes to keep itself busy – yesterday the company lifted the lid on Valorant, a new team-based hero shooter, formerly known as Project A.
