Riot Games is developing an MMO based around the League of Legends Universe.

Announced (bizarrely) by a tweet from the studio's VP of Intellectual Property and Entertainment Greg Street, no further information was given.

It's perhaps unsurprising given Riot's recent push to develop new titles.

While League of Legends launched back in 2009, the studio hadn't released anything else before a flurry of launches in the last year.

2019 saw Teamfight Tactics, an auto battler based on League of Legends, while 2020 has seen the team release Legends of Runeterra and League of Legends Wild Rift, while also creating a new IP, Valorant.

Next year will see the release of Ruined King: A League of Legends story, while there are still two further titles in development.

It's looking to be busy enough, but an MMO could be the biggest project yet.

We'll be adding to this story as it develops.
