Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon List

January 17, 2022: Genesect is the current Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon available to catch via five-star raids. It's technically a Mythical, but it counts.

The Pokémon GO legendary Pokémon roster, while already huge, still has a lot of growing left to do. For a full list of which legendary Pokémon you can go out and catch today, read on. We're also going to cover every single one that's yet to be released as well.

These incredibly rare and powerful Pokémon are wonderful additions to your collection. Not only will they tick off slots in your Pokédex that will be hard to fill when they're cycled out for other raid bosses, but they're also generally top-tier Pokémon as well. If you're hoping to play like the best, you'll want as many as you can get.

Though it may look confusing and unwieldy, our Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon tier list isn't all that hard to understand. A Pokémon's value is at its highest beginning at S-tier.

As you work down the tiers, the Pokémon graded as such just aren't as good or as frequently viable in raid battles as others. Whether it's down to a middling moveset, vulnerable typing, or a focus on defence over offense (which generally isn't great in timed raid battles), a lot goes into working out which Pokémon are deserving of a top spot on the Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon tier list.

All we're saying is to focus your raid passes and rare candies on upgrading the ones higher up the list. These Pokémon are more commonly great counters for other, powerful raid bosses. No consideration has been made for great PVP Pokémon, but we'll make that distinction with another tier list later down the line.

For now, focus on the best. You're still encouraged to catch them all at least once, but getting more than one Registeel is only good for the experience points.

Pheramosa is one Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon that hasn't made it into the mobile game just yet.

Ever wondered just how many more Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon haven't made it into the hit mobile game yet? Some Pokémon from later generations have been added to the game long before previous generations were fully released.

In the list above, we've listed every known Legendary Pokémon from across the franchise and stated whether they've ever been featured in Pokémon GO and if they're still available today. With it, you should be able to ascertain whether a Pokémon you're missing from your Pokédex is available, unavailable, or simply unreleased.

How Do I Get Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon?

Fight in Raids

You can get Legendary Pokémon through a bunch of different ways, but the best way will always be through five-star raids. No matter the rotation, Legendary (or sometimes Mythical) Pokémon will always hatch from these eggs. Just check out the Pokémon GO raid bosses guide to know who to expect right now.

Complete Research Breakthrough Rewards

Another way is through Research Breakthroughs. These don't drop Legendary Pokémon very often, but when they do, it's a great way to get some cool creatures without needing to find a raid group. Use our Pokémon GO Research Breakthrough rewards page to keep up with the current rewards.

Find the Team GO Rocket Leaders

From time to time, Team GO Rocket Leaders Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra can bring Legendary Pokémon into their teams as final selections. Again, it's a rare occurrence, but it can happen. If it happens again, expect to see more 'trio' Pokémon like Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie.

Fight Giovanni

Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni sometimes goes away for extended periods of time. But upon his arrival, he comes bearing gifts of the Legendary kind. Defeating this powerful foe will give you the chance to catch his sole Shadow Legendary Pokémon. Last time, it was Lugia. Next time, it could be Groudon or Kyogre.

Do Trades

If you have the Stardust to spare, someone in your community will likely have one, two, or a dozen Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon they don't actually need. If you can convince them to part with a few, you'll be able to build up your teams in no time. Better yet, you'll get a bunch of Candy you can use to power them up. They might activate the Lucky Pokémon buff in the process.

Hopefully, you've learned everything you need to know about Pokémon GO Legendary Pokémon by reading this guide and skimming through its tables. We'll update this page whenever a new Pokémon comes out or something causes one to become worthy of a higher (or lower) place on the tier list.
