Fighting your way through Elden Ring can be so difficult at times that you often end up feeling like a helpless little hobbit trying to save the world from forces bigger and stronger than you are, even if you’ve had your motivational pep talk from Israel Adesanya.

Then again, there no doubt are some hardened veterans who consider themselves to be more of an Aragorn, Gimli or Legolas, as they easily carve their way through boss battles no matter what kind of medieval firepower is at their disposal.

Regardless of which side of this divide you find yourself on, if you can’t look at the word ‘ring’ without thinking of Middle Earth, a new mod might be up your alley.

Elden Ring Gets Tolkien-Inspired Makeover

The mod in question is called “The Lord Of The Elden Ring - By Numa” and, as the name suggests, it’s the work of modder Numa1986, whose goal was to bring “a mystical ambience and a realistic sensation” to the game with just one mod.

As the title suggests, the mod is inspired by the Lord of the Rings movies, endeavouring to bring Elden Ring’s visuals closer to those of the films via a reshade, which also helps to hide some of the game’s rougher textures.

According to Numa1986, some minor tweaking might be required to get the game looking exactly as you want it to with the reshade installed, with visibility in darker areas of the map occasionally leading to jumpscares and a bit of struggle to see enemies, loot or routes in the distance.

If this hasn’t put you off, you’ll need to jump through a few hoops to install it, so make sure you follow the detailed instructions on the mod’s description page, which should help you to get things working as intended.

On the other hand, if you don’t consider yourself a Middle Earther or just want a reshade that’ll make your game stand out even further from the vanilla crowd, another mod, called “Eclipse'', by modder Craftian might be what you’re looking for.

Inspired by the film Sin City and the manga Beserk, this mod offers a very stylised visual style contrasting grey monochrome with vibrant flashes of bright red and gold, making the Lands Between look very different indeed.

Or for a more vintage Hollywood feel, modder Skullsaber138’s reshade “Vintage Cinema” gives the game a bit more of a retro feel.
