Wolverine is a violent mutant and is one of the best dualist classes in Marvel Rivals. While playing with him, it may seem like he can easily be managed, but his gameplay and mechanics are difficult to master. Here is a complete breakdown of all of his abilities:

Primary Attack: Savage Claw

Wolverine’s basic attack is Savage Claw, unleashing a series of slashings on his opponents with his Adamantium claws. Luckily, his damage output scales up as the rage increases, making him a good pick for players who prefer hand-to-hand combat.

Last Stand

In Last Stand, Wolverine leaps into the air and descends in a spiraling attack, delivering devastating damage to enemies and often knocking them down. This ability is highly effective for clearing crowds or turning the tide in intense team fights.

Feral Leap

This ability allows Wolverine to move forward and grab the first enemy who appears in his path. After grabbing, he smashes the enemies into the ground and knocks them out. After using Feral Leap, his basic attack also evolves and turns into Bersert Claw Strike, increasing its attack damage.

Undying Animal

A life-saver ability to protect himself in tight situations, Undying Animal allows him to reduce the incoming damage for a short duration. It allows him to survive multiple enemy attacks or stay alive during chaotic fights.

Vicious Rampage

With Vicious Rampage, Wolverine moves forward and slashes his X pattern to deal damage to every enemy in his path. This move is perfect for initiating a fight against enemies or enjoying his signature fighting style.

Regenerative Healing Factor

Regeneration is one of the Wolverine’s basic abilities that allow him to heal over time when he is out of combat. It allows him to regenerate his health bar before the next battle. Luckily, the healing amount also increases with his rage meter, allowing him faster recovery.

Berserker Rage

Depending on his stacked rage, Berserker’s Rage enhances Wolverine’s damage and healing power. Wolverine’s rage meter scales up when he takes or deals damages. This allows him to deal higher damage or increase his healing factor.

How to Play Wolverine

Wolverine is a melee-type character designed to be effective in close combat. He has only two basic movements, sprinting and dashing. You should first understand his attacking pattern because his lack of flying or limited mobility can be challenging. Abilities like Feral Leap and Vicious Rampage allow him to attack within close gaps and perform powerful leaps and dashes.

In battle, Wolverine is an excellent Duelist. His health is impressive, significantly higher than most Duelists, and allows him to take and deal much damage. You can use Feral Leap to start the fight, followed by Savage Claw, ending with Last Stand for substantial damage.

Team Pairing with Wolverine

Wolverine is most effective when he is teamed up with characters who can help and support him in his attacks. Being a melee Duelist, he pairs well with other ranged Duelists, such as The Punisher or Black Widow, who can distract the enemies while Wolverine attacks.

Characters like Groot or Dr. Strange increase Wolverine’s durability. Groot can create chokepoints, pushing enemies into Wolverine’s range, while Dr. Strange can shield him during the attacks. Moreover, Rocket Raccoon and Jeff are excellent healers, which keep Wolverine in the fight longer, allowing him to show his full potential.

How to Counter Wolverine

Wolverine’s greatest weakness is his limitation to melee range. Characters with flying abilities or long-range attacks can counter him by staying out of reach. Many heroes like Iron Man, Storm, or Scarlet Witch can chip away at Wolverine’s health while maintaining a safe distance.

Crowd control abilities are also effective against Wolverine, as his damage effect from Undying Animal only lasts five seconds.

Characters like Spider-Man and Winter Soldier can immobilize him long enough to deal significant damage. Additionally, Wolverine’s healing factor requires him to be out of combat, so aggressive pressure prevents him from recovering and forces him into defensive play.
