Marvel Rivals is shaping up to be a promising hero-shooter, potentially rivaling its peers. Since its release on December 6, 2024, it has amassed a staggering 20 million players worldwide, with gamers battling it out as their favorite Marvel heroes and villains.

The game has become a phenomenon in just a month, resulting in hilarious clips, role-queue drama, broken characters, and a thriving competitive scene. Some even hail it as the fabled 'Overwatch Killer.'

With 33 heroes (and more reportedly on the way), Marvel Rivals offers a fantastic hero-shooter experience to enjoy with friends.

Currently, the game features a limited number of playable maps. While these maps are diverse, each with a unique game mode, Marvel Rivals could benefit from expanding its selection beyond Wakanda, Klyntar, Asgard, and the Spider-Islands.

According to the Marvel Rivals News in X (formerly Twitter) account, here are the upcoming maps slated for future seasons and some we'd love to see.

Arakko

Marvel Rivals appears to be leaning into its sentient planets, starting with the living island Arakko. Like Genosha, this island is home to many mutants, including Apocalypse and his wife, Genesis. Alongside Krakoa, it remains one of the few bastions of mutant-kind.

Arakko is rumored to be a Convoy (Payload) map.

Since Storm and Magneto are playable characters in Rivals, this map could feature their involvement, as both are part of the Great Ring. Perhaps NetEase might even add skins highlighting their royal status in Arakko.

Potential points of interest include Arak Coral on the horizon or the Great Ring's governing seat.

Krakoa

Another iconic mutant haven is ‘The Island That Walks Like a Man,’ or Krakoa. These sentient islands, originally part of the same being, Okkara, are anagrams of each other.

Krakoa is a shadow of its former glory, a fallen mutant sanctuary lost to time. Most mutants fled, though some stayed to preserve its mutant essence. Leaks suggest this map will blend elements from both the present day and 2099, adding intriguing timeline dynamics. Players might explore Krakoa at its zenith and in a futuristic iteration.

Krakoa is expected to be a Domination (Capture the Objective) map, potentially featuring three stages to showcase its temporal transformations.

Empire of Eternal Night / New York

This map, known as the Empire of Eternal Night, appears to be a combination of a transformed New York, perhaps engulfed by Death or the Darkforce Dimension.

According the in-game lore, Cloak & Dagger "...emerged to find New York under the control of Dracula. They soon joined the heroic resistance fighting against the Empire of Eternal Night."

Similar to Arakko, this map will be a Convoy (Payload) map and may include an elevator to Midtown.

The map could highlight Marvel’s 2099 timeline, featuring landmarks like Avengers Tower or other iconic Marvel locations.

Collector’s Theme Park

This map introduces Taneleer Tivan’s peculiar collection of powerful artifacts. Found in the game files by prominent Marvel Rivals leaker XOX Leaks, it suggests the Collector will play a significant role.

In the 2099 timeline, the Collector captured characters like Mantis, Psylocke, and Jeff, though they eventually escaped to reunite with their select groups.

Thebes, Egypt

While still speculative, Thebes, Egypt, is reportedly in the works, though no game mode has been confirmed. Some believe it could debut alongside a new Capture the Flag mode in a future update.

Marvel fans might recognize Thebes as home to Dr. Badr, also known as the Hunter’s Moon. Potential areas include Robotopia or the Theban Necropolis in 2099.

Maps We Want To See

Marvel and NetEase have countless potential maps to include in Marvel Rivals. Iconic locations like Genosha at its peak or Xandar, home of the Nova Corps, would be exciting additions.

Ego the Living Planet could also make for a thrilling map, especially given the inclusion of sentient islands.

For now, these leaks offer a glimpse into what might be coming. While still speculative, additional maps would greatly enhance the game’s variety and reduce the repetitiveness of current modes. Keep in mind that these are the same people who gave us the Fantastic 4 and Ultron leaks, so they know what they are doing.

Marvel Rivals’ Season 0 is set to end this week, with Season 1 coming in the horizon, it is only a matter of time before we get more and more content, including the upcoming leaked heroes. Check back here for more updates about potential Marvel Rivals maps.
