There’s no doubt that the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a great influence on Marvel Rivals' take on the characters and even some had MCU skins available at launch, however, Captain America wasn't one of them.

This is about to change as NetEase has announced another crossover with a skin based on the hero's look in Avengers: Infinity War, as well as a futuristic 2099 skin for Luna Snow.

Infinity War Cap and Mirae 2099 Luna

In an official reveal on the Marvel Rivals socials, they gave a first look at the new skins for Captain America and Luna Snow, and fans have been going crazy for both. Check this out:

Both skins have been classified as Legendary in the game, so fans can expect them to run for about 1,800-2000 Units. With NetEase making all of their money on cosmetics, it’s likely these skins won’t be free anytime soon.

Captain America – Avengers: Infinity War

Though Cap usually just uses one shield in the game, it’s been revealed in gameplay footage that he wears both Vibranium gauntlets from the movie, but this is just an aesthetic change, as his shield ability works as usual.

His MVP reel showcased is also the same reveal that he got in Infinity War, with the darkened costume as well as the full beard and wild hair. If anything, this costume should be labelled the Steve Rogers skin, since he’s dropped the Captain America mantle by Infinity War; he previously gave up the shield to Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War.

Luna Snow – Mirae 2099

As for Luna, the word Mirae in Korean means ‘future’, so it’s fitting that this Cyberpunk-inspired skin would be called Mirae 2099, the same year the Tokyo map takes place.

Though Luna’s music background has been made very clear in the game, this skin embraces the pop-star identity with all the effects following Luna emitting musical notes and sound bars. She also has an MVP reel that has her holding a concert, which should be great for any player who buys into the hype of Luna being a pop star in-game.

Expect More Drops

For now, Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is still ongoing, and while fans expect more Lunar New Year-based cosmetics, NetEase has confirmed with this drop that there aren’t any rules when it comes to their reveals this season.

After all, fans are still expecting a mid-season update that should bring the Human Torch and the Thing into the game. With NetEase saying they would be adding new characters every 1.5 months, it’s possible that fans will have to wait until the middle of February for the reveal.

In the meantime, there’s a lot of room for NetEase to put the focus on other heroes in the game and deliver some cosmetics that fans have been asking for since the game launched last December.

Where’s the First Avenger Captain America skin? How about a first appearance Iron Man?

Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
