Marvel Rivals hasn’t been shy about using more obscure characters, and one pair that many people didn’t expect was Cloak and Dagger.

The two come at the price of one, and players can interchange between them during the battle. What’s great is that each has a different set of skills, but their ultimate is a combined effort on both.

Cloak and Dagger Abilities

Their power has brought Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen together, and even in this game, they come together as one united playable hero.

“Cloak and Dagger are an inseparable duo who each embody the forces of darkness and light, respectively. Once standalone heroes, Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen merged together when the fabric of the Multiverse began to unravel during the Timestream Entanglement. Now entangled together, this duo must balance their phenomenal powers to save their allies and one another.

“Forced to share the same physical space to survive, Cloak & Dagger must learn to fight as one, combining their powers in ways they've never had to before.”

Cloak and Dagger are classified as Strategists, which is the game’s word for ‘Healer,’ but that doesn’t mean that they also won’t be able to deal some damage to enemy teams. Here’s a breakdown of their skills (via Marvel Rivals Guide):

Dagger Abilities

Primary Fire – Homing Daggers – Dagger fires her light daggers, and they instantly look for targets. Allies who hit will get healed, and enemies will get damaged.

Secondary Fire – Volley of Daggers – Instead of singular homing daggers, Dagger fires a volley of daggers that have the effect of ‘healing over time’ with allies.

E – Healing Wall – Dagger fires a healing wall in a straight path that will heal all the allies that go through it. It will also have an increased healing effect for anyone who gets hit.

Cloak Abilities

Primary Fire – Damaging Drain – Cloak does a constant drain of enemies; this skill doesn’t require a reload.

Secondary Fire – Shroud Allies – Cloak shrouds all of his nearby allies, temporarily making them all invulnerable. It can even negate ultimates. This ability also allows Cloak to fly and move around better on the battlefield.

E – Dark Wall – Much like Dagger’s wall, but instead of affecting allies, it affects enemies. Enemies that get hit with the wall will receive increased damage. It also blinds them for a good while.

Ultimate – Healing/Damage Dash- this ability is shared between both characters. Cloak and Dagger will do three dashes, and everyone caught in its path, depending on whether they are an enemy or an ally, will either be healed or damaged.

Note that Cloak and Dagger have separate cooldowns regarding their abilities, so players can keep switching between them if they run out of tricks with one character.

Light and Darkness

Regarding Overwatch equivalents, it does look like Cloak and Dagger are a mix between Kiriko and Moira. Dagger has her homing shots that can either heal or damage, and Cloak can drain enemies of their HP.

The ultimate, which damages or heals depending on who is hit, is also reminiscent of Moira’s ultimate, which does the same thing—but Moira’s is a beam, while Cloak and Dagger can be strategic in where they leave their trail.

Cloak and Dagger may not have any spot in the main MCU yet, but they did manage to get a show on Prime Video that ran for two seasons. Marvel Rivals is sure to bring a new spotlight to Tyrone and Tandy, and some comic fans are sure to be happy that these two made it to the base roster of one of the year's most anticipated games.

Cloak and Dagger join the 33-hero roster when Marvel Rivals launches on Dec. 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
