Wolverine has been a playable character in video games for decades and was one of the fighters most requested by Marvel Rivals.

Luckily, he’s coming to the game, and though the reveal may be late, NetEase has revealed his abilities that use his Berserker Rage and healing factor—making him hard to kill and a ferocious fighter on the battlefield.

Wolverine’s Abilities in Marvel Rivals

The game embraces a more comic-accurate version of Logan, which means he’s short and fierce. Even if that is the case, he still has a lot of that gruff charm that makes Hugh Jackman’s version a cultural icon.

“Logan was born with the gift of razor-sharp claws and a powerful healing ability that allowed him to live for centuries. However, when the secretive government organization Weapon X shaped him through unspeakable pain and horrific experimentation, his humanity was forfeited to evolve him into an animalistic instrument of destruction. Having risen above his trauma, the Wolverine fights for what’s right, defending both Mutants and humanity.

“His world has become even more chaotic when the Timestream Entanglement began erasing entire realities. Now, Logan divides his time battling Doom 2099 and helping guide time-lost Mutants to safety on the island of Krakoa.”

Wolverine is classified as a Duelist, which means that he’s meant to deal a lot of damage, but at the same time, he can also take a beating as well. The game makes full use of his claws and leaps, but he also has an ability that uses his healing factor that can even withstand an ultimate from Magneto.

Here’s the breakdown of his abilities (via Marvel Rivals Guide)

Primary Fire – Adamantium Claws – Wolverine uses his claws to slash at enemies, dealing damage and charging up the secondary attack.

Secondary - Forward Dash with Slashes—This attack seems to have been lifted from Wolverine’s Marvel vs. Capcom days. It has Wolverine dash forward while doing three slashes. With enough damage charge, though, Wolverine just does one massive slash forward that deals extra damage.

Shift – Lunge - Wolverine takes a huge leap forward and takes any enemies with him. Upon landing, Wolverine can perform quick slashes just for that added damage.

E- Healing Factor – Wolverine takes less damage and can even survive ultimates thrown at him.

Ultimate – This looks to be a three-part attack where Wolverine pounces on multiple enemies, launches them into the air, and pounces one last time to slam them into the ground—damaging all the other enemies around that area.

Passive - Berserker Rage – When health drops to 0, Wolverine gets bonus health and one last chance to survive. The primary attack is empowered the same way that the forward dash does

Team-Up Ability –Fastball Special – Originally a move Wolverine does with Colossus in the comics, Wolverine can team up with the Hulk during a game and have Hulk throw him a great distance. By the looks of it, Wolverine will already be at his lunge position when he’s thrown.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly which Overwatch hero Wolverine is based on, but with the ability to launch enemies in the air and even reposition them with his attacks—he can be considered a more melee-focused Doomfist. His primary fire also builds up his secondary one, which is a skill the Sojourn has.

Besides Wolverine’s skillset, many fans are excited to know that Steve Blum will be voicing Logan for Marvel Rivals. Blum had voiced Wolverine in the animated Wolverine and the X-Men, but he’s best known for providing the voice for Zeb in Star Wars Rebels and Spike Spiegel in the English dub of Cowboy Bebop.

With all these X-Men coming to the game, though, many people are wondering when the poster boy Cyclops/Scott Summers is ready to join the fray.

Wolverine joins the 33-character roster of Marvel Rivals, which will launch on Dec. 6 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
